This is interesting. I'll try to participate.

Can I make my own textures instead of using photos?
Great!! Welcome :)

Yes, you can, any kind of textures are fine as long as they look somewhat close to AS style. I think you can take a look at how the textures are done for the London traffic bus ;)

Unfortunately I won't have time to participate in this. I am upgrading from Windows 10 so I have to wipe my stuff onto storage in order to create a backup image.
Well that's a shame :(

However, if this one is successful I might hold it more times

Nik's Low Poly Car Modelling Challenge! #1

https://i.imgur.com/svhdumr.png Why don't we make more cars in the way Angel Studios would have done them? In the past decade, MM2 modding scene has been continuously flooded with high poly converts from all kind of games, cars which don't really fit the default game style, unless...

Yeah, I know what you mean.

So how about having the decals as separate textures then? MCSR used such method. You can do the same with headlights and tail lights too!

What's the use of such ridiculously oversized textures anyway? Using separate textures for the body (not only one huge texture block - you have a lot of blank space too!) and better texture management you can achieve the same result, even better. You can check how default MM2 cars are made.

Nik's Low Poly Sweatshop

Some cars I have been working on lately: McLaren X-1 https://i.imgur.com/YXSEnFO.png https://i.imgur.com/1vVObof.png I made it in one day (less than 24 hours) after feeling challenged to do it. This method is unstoppable, RacingFreak. I thought I would never be good at scratch modelling low poly cars and would be stuck converting cars, until I followed this procedure and re-modelled my own scratch car from about a year ago. Glad to know that :) It will be cool to see it when it's ready :D...

I never really liked ChoroQ, all these cars had the potential to be really cool models if only they didnt have these silly oversized wheels.

Impressive work with this tutorial, it's very well made! :D It's interesting the use of copies of the flat side to make the rest of the car sides, must be really perfect for low polygons modeling. Yes Franch, that way, once you built a frame you can make perfectly centered mesh, unlike if yo...
