Postby COOLGUY200 » Sat Apr 30, 2016 9:47 pm

Today is April 30th. 17 years ago, the original Midtown Madness was released.

Three more years, and this game will be 20 years old.

Here's the trailer for the original game. Look and see what's different than usual in terms of the gameplay.

Spoiler
That trailer tho...

"Bulitt through town in a '67 Boss 302 Ford Mustang."

NYOHHHHH
In memory of the game, I have provided a wallpaper commemorating the 17th anniversary.

Here is the link to different sizes of this wallpaper.

That's cool, good that you've reminded it. I only knew a generic May 1999 for the game release date.
I've got to play it recently to try and make the screenshots of the add-on cars that I've published here. It still gives a great feeling and has a very nice driving physics that's even better than various recent games.
Thanks for trainer and wallpaper. :)

Spoiler
The guy in the trailer refers to the Mustang Fastback as a '67 302 Boss, the checkpoints are different, the cars don't have shadows, the font for the timer and notifications are different.

Your welcome! It sometimes feels more realistic than the newer NFS games.

Spoiler
Boss 302 wasn't a model in 1967. And it's a 1968! The 1967 had a different rear quarter panel. And what's with the spoiler?

erm so what? But we have the anniversary anyway ;) I think you don't get what the word anniversary means ;) Nice wallpaper, I wonder why they got confused about the Mustang model. Boss models were introduced in 1969, maybe in early developing they wanted to do the 69 one

They might have...however the in-game Mustang has a "Windsor" 302, not the "Boss 302" V8, as they called it. Possibly it was just some clueless dude who didn't know squat about cars in general.

Dear lord, this game is nearing its 20s already. If there's anything that can be said about Midtown Madness, it's that it was revolutionary for its time, a true pioneer in the racing game genre. I will always go back to this game every once in a while, whether it's out of sheer nostalgia or for the sake of having fun.
