New! Brest City 3D on line!! And some 3D buildings for MM2..

Hello !

8) On this sunny day in Brest, i am happy to anounce you that i work on the big project of 3D Brest City, for MM2 of course but also in view of real Tramway project before 2012.

What will be 3D Brest City ?

3D Brest City already exist ! I discorved it while i was modelising Brest's buildings.

when i heard that SemTram (society for tramway designing) works on a 3D scale model of Brest. So i contacted them, and after an interview with the technical manager, i came back at home with the 3ds files, textures, and application of 3d scale model, and with a situation vacant !! i will can start the job on august.

The 3D scale model has been realised by IGN (National Geography Institute) with a beta version of one of their software, which extrude buildings and relief from aerial and geography maps. Textures, which have been taken by a lens put on a pole on a car circulating in streets at a known speed, are automaticaly applyed to buildings faces. A real wonder !!!
Ingeneers of CERV (European center for Virtual Reality / www.cerv.fr) based in Brest, are working on traffic algorythm which will be import in the 3D model.

The aim of this project is to create an exact 3D scale model, with Tramway running in traffic, to help Brest 's inhabitants to get accustomed with the Tramway. A simulator at train's scale, fixed on jacks, which will be realised by ENIB (ingeneery school) will permit to simulate road falls.

But for the moment, just some buildings are realised, just a part of them have textured faces and ground is not perfect. It needs ameliorations.

So i use .3ds files (with an authorization) to modify ground, and to do a conversion of the city for MM2.

A titanic work as you can think !! :)

Already this version of 3D scale model has been put in google hearth. So Brest is the second city of the world after New York to propose a 3D version of its streets for virtual visitors !!

The software of Brest 3D is downloadable. Developed by Vectuel, with the graphic motor of Unreal Tournament, is a big file of 500 Mo which need a very good graphic card (500Mb) and a powerful PC to work (2GHz, Ram 1Go).

OMG!!! 8O

This is so great! :o You'll do the convertion for MM2 of Brest city in France. You must use the HQTM-Team program MM2CT, and learn all its manual to do this. :) It's so smarty use an already existing 3D city model, of course with all permissions. ;) All that city will look so great for Midtown Madness 2. I hope for you and good work! :D
The 3D Brest city project for Google Earth is so cool. :)

PS: the link of the Queliverzan Tours doesn't work because there's the esclamative dot.
