!ar files are dodgy

Some ar files (usually ones which are like !mb.ar) do not extract etc. Why is this? How can I tweak engine tuning etc? do these ar files have a passsword? they won't extract using winzip or dear2. Is there a specialist tool to use?

Some .ar files have the locked content to preserve it from thefts and inappropriate usages. These files has been locked by the author for a safety release, and there's no way to extract their content. These locked file don't use a password for lock, their content isn't showed after the opening with WinZip and DeAR 2 can extract the content only from the original MM2 game .ar files. And finally there's no tool that let doing this (I dont know how the file author can lock his creations).
To tweak the tuning of these locked cars you can only use the HQTM-Team program MM2 Ultimate Tweaker.

If you want to do this also with locked files, you can use only the HQTM-Team's cars that have the profile and the sample texture for their program MM2 Car Skin Changer. There are also some Alpha Design's cars that use this program for multiple colors.

That's actually the reason they don't tell anybody in the community other than a select few trusted members; so the method doesn't get out. So, sorry, unfortunately how to lock vehicles isn't getting out any time soon.
