I still haven't played the first Mafia. I almost got it back when I was playing Mafia 2, but never did. Maybe sometime I will. How similar is it to the second?

Well okay, there is, but just as collectable pictures that are viewable outside of the singleplayer campaign.

Good Easter Egg in Mafia to unlock everything. Probably Mafia, released in 2002, is better than Mafia 2 about the gameplay and story plot. Haven't never played both, I've just seen playing it, in particular a cars race missing. About Mafia 2, I've read that it has a linear gameplay, meaning that besides follow the main story and collect the images that HummersRock is talking about there isn't other to do. The free roaming is end to itself, as seems, like is with the similar game L.A. Noire (not really an action game but the environment is in the same ages period), that I would like to try.
