MM2 starts by crashing

Postby lordedwood » Sun Nov 04, 2012 6:18 pm

today i have a good old PC i can play all old ames with.
I start the game, often it says i did not put the cd in it...
When it works, i go in option and set everything right.
Then "quick race" it starts and nothing respond ! Then back to windows XP.

I have no clue.
Thanks for helping.

It says you need to insert CD, huh? Try replacing the .exe by this no-cd crack:

It should work. If not just say ;)

thanks.
Each time it has crashed, and i start the game again, it opens a cmd.exe and MS word with the "YIKES!
Midtown Madness 2 was not properly shut down the last time you ran it. This may have been caused by several factors, including abruptly turning off your computer, or because the game itself stopped responding."

> How can i delete that program and the video of the editor to starts the game quicker ?

So to delete the MM2.lock (the YIKES!) you can just browse it in mm2 folder and delete it (it's MM2.lock).

About the video, you delete logos.mp4 in MM2 folder.

About playing the game, you should be able to do this. If not, tell when it crashes ;)

From the game crashes that you're having you would need to delete or take out the players folder, placed in the main game folder. Then, run the game and create a new profile, or, if you want all the default cars and paintjobs unlocked, use this completed savegame. Seems that the game crashes while the city loading, though.

Thanks. I deleted the players folder and created a new profile.
But nothing better :/

Check if you have any mods in MM2 folder. If yes, take them to another place and try again ;)

ho i did not receive an email...i never installed anything but the basic MM2. It crashed before i could do anything with it.
It seems to be just an incompatibility with my computer, my radeon card.
even in the software mode with everything low it crashes after 2 sec on the road (can't even drive the car.)

Does it exist a homebrew of MM2 and 1 on xbox ?

Can i get the Win xp patch to try it please ? or the MM2BR rip maybe ? I've seen the same but know nothing about it.

MM2BR is dead, so not much help there. And nope, no MM1 or MM2 for a platform other than PC.

Weird that you get errors, as I have tested it on two computers (all options, music on/off), seems to work fine.

If anything, try getting updates from: https://www.mm2x.com/modules.php?name=Downl ... cid=62#cat

With ripped versions of the game (that should have already been patched) it's normal that's possible install patches, they require the game installed in the system, not just present in a folder. But, do you have the game disc or a disc image of it? If yes, do a full installing of the game, apply its patch and then replace the game .exe file with this one. Now run the game (set the shortcut properties in the programs menu to always run as administrator), create a new player profile and set the game options.
