Nope, you can go into zmod and make a color like, say red, then call it Matte Material (not the exact name, you need something like #, #1, #2, etc). Mm2 has been programmed to recognize this name and it uses the color as a texture.

No. The pedestrians doesn't use textures, but only uniform colors that change for each pedestrian. They uses .pkg files, but imported in ZModeler they result white; the game in a way assign the colors for them.I'm pretty sure the textures for them are somewhere else.

No, the peds pkgs are empty, at least they were when I tried. The coloring used by mm2 is accepted by zmodeler and when you import a pkg that uses this coloring (like my H3 or my boats or something) they will be colored.

I don't think this; sure DeAR 2 lets see and extract all files in the game .ar files. All the base game files there are in that .ar files.They're hidden files, maybe?

This can be a think to do, but I don't believe; but however won't work the only using of new charachters models to do a pedestrian mod.
The game will generate the colors to the various parts of the pedestrian 3D model, some script file to manage their movements (.anim files) and some other unknown file types about the pedestrians (.mod, .skel, .rays, etc).
Some of them can be modified through Notepad, but I don't know the final results in the game.

MM3 hasn't been developed by Rockstar San Diego (Angel Studios). Microsoft had chosen Digital Illusions CE to develop MM3.
MM3 only for Xbox sure was a Microsoft choise, because it's the game producer and publisher.
