This one isn't actually from GTA SA, its from Euro Truck Simulator. I got it from gamemodels.ru. And I guess retexturing could be the wrong term. Basically the model has textures, but doesn't know where they are because they're in a textures folder, and the z3d is in a geometry folder, whereas before, they were together. Plus, I renamed a couple so I could tell them apart (some had long number strings for names) so its pretty much just reassigning each texture to its proper place.

I can't believe it! This whole time, and all I had to do was export twice...and it worked! I now present to you, fully textured, the DAF XF!

The glass kinda looks different in each picture cause it took me a while to make it transparent yet still visible (kinda reflective semi-transparency). And the steeringwheel oddly doesn't show from the outside through the glass, even though it shows inside. ButI guess those really are minor things. Now I just need to properly package these and add some lights, sounds, and stuff.

I'm thinking I'm going to make an ETS carpack, cause I have several other trucks, now that I know how to get them to work. I don't think they're already available, or if so, not in HD semicab configuration, but if I overlooked them, let me know.

Sorry I ask so many questions, but I have a couple more.

1. When I did a practice export, I got the truck's pkg, but not any bnd or mtx files. Is this normal because its a conversion or because of the particular game its converted from? If not, what do I need to do to correct it?

2. I'm considering an attempt to make multiple paintjobs by taking the cab texture, copying it, and coloring it. Since the original is already mapped, the copy should also be correctly mapped. But do I need to put the additional color(s) on the truck ontop of the original paint prior to exporting inorder for it to recognize them, or is the 'add color suffix' list all I have to do to get them to work?

3. I seem to have forgotten the steps off creating a light object. Could someone review for me please?

To create a .bnd file, have an object called BOUND which covers the entire truck in 30-40 triangles. For .mtx files, add a :m to the name of the object. So WHL0_H becomes WHL0_H:m.

For you to have mtx files and bound, you should name the objects correctly in Zmodeler. For that, delete the unnecessary objects that aren't visible (like if it has an engine inside the body) and unite all the objects that make up the main body. Have a look at this for names of basic objects, like wheels.

About the colours, you just have to make another colour using the original texture as template and add appropriate suffix after its name, and then add it in the colour suffix list while exporting.

Make sure that you have all of the minimum objects before exporting, else it'll crash the game.
P.S: Zmodeler generates .mtx files for the objects that have a ":m" suffix in Zmodeler. And just DON'T GIVE UP if it crashes the game a few times. :)

By the way everyone, I'm taking color requests because I just realized I can repaint this truck virtually every color there is, including chrome, double-shiny chrome, all colors in chrome, and all colors in double-shiny chrome. So if people don't request colors, I'm never going to know how to paint it, short of 60+ paintjobs, which is far too many. 10 is a nice number though, so first ten people to ask for a color (and specify if you want the color chromed over). Also, if you want to know how a certain color looks before you confirm its what you want, I can upload more pictures.

(Its actually more chromy than it looks because of the angle, but from some angles, it looks like new aluminum foil :lol: )

There is a way to create mtx flies. Find the wheel objects and then UniteSelect all the objects. After that just rename them like this [FrontLeft WHL0_H:m, FrontRight WHL1_H:m, RearLeft WHL2_H:m RearRight WHL3_H:m] and for the windows just put them bottom of all the truck objects. :)

Update: I got some colors going, but still trying to make them look just right.
And news on all my GTA SA emergency vehicles, I've started to hear back from some of the original authors. So far I'm seeing green across the board.

Models I have permission for so far:
LAPD pack 1 (Los Angelos, I think, despite being for GTA SA)
LAPD pack 2
Bone County Sheriff pack
SFPD (San Fierro, I believe) pack
Mount Chiliad Rescue Hummer & Tahoe
Rockland PD Chevy Silverado

More coming!

Edit: I gave up on the warthog I had because it...well...sucked. The gun and interior were part of the main chassis but both had their own textures and...long story. Anyway, not to worry, because I just found a model from Reach (might actually be too polyed, with all that awesome detail) and another model, I forget from which game. Now if Zmodeler 2 stops crashing long enough to import...

Okay, so I got the truck all packaged, but I experienced a selection screen crash.

As far as I know I did everything I need to, but what might I have missed?
I renamed all tune files
added a bound (I'm pretty sure I corrected it)
correctly named all shadow, lights, etc.
put my colors in, in the correct order.

Make sure the name of the truck is under 40 characters.

Also just a suggestion, to get screen images with no watermark you should maybe use QuickGrab

I called it daf_xf_oldsingle, and all the colors are named daf_<color>.
The description is DAF XF single-axle.
And all the files in 'tune' and its sub-folders have been renamed daf_xf_oldsingle

One thing that I'm aware of is I don't have any jpg's. Would this be a potential problem?

Or is the poly to high maybe? AR is 11,000 KB, pkg is 1,000KB, as is the z3d file.

Until I get it working in-game, I won't know if I implemented the sounds and changed the sound files correctly. But that wouldn't cause a selection screen crash, would it?

The info file is from another semi-truck, so beond changing colors/basename/description, I left everything else alone, so that, at least, should b fine
