Maybe this diagram here will help some future track editors -

I sure did get in depth with explaining things. I don't know what other "puzzle pieces" I should do now...

UPDATE:

We have our first crosswalk!

Image

I'm sure it's pretty straightforward on how I made the intersection :D

Wow, that's technical. :o

This map is my death sentence.

Image

This is unbelievable. That's only one major road not even completely down and I still have a crap load more to go!

Great planning of work and good looking crosswalk, it shouldn't create troubles once in-game generated as PSDL, especially if you've made it all according to the MM2 City Toolkit city making tutorial example. However, an in-game try before start with all the city is worth, possibly also of other kind of intersections.
The intersections need to be splitted in more parts obviously, so when you've done this to the first one, copy all the objects and do the intersection placing of the other intersections, otherwise is a big pain do that to thousand of intersections! Also, the names have to be correct, not exceeding 8 characters of length (you would need to use also symbols after the underscore).

Yeah, it's a big work to do.

Wow that's huge! Probably as big as SF.

Got some more roads done. Everything is going smoothly!

Image

Turns out I don't really need those "puzzle pieces" - I'm just using them as references for how big the road should be. Sadly, it would make this project take too long if I were to strive for perfection, so the roads can't and won't be perfectly straight...well, they will be straight, but if you were to zoom in super close, they aren't perfect ;)

More to come!

Well I don't think kind of perfection matters. :P

Looks like it's off to a really good start though. Great work. :)

Does anyone here have any good tips for highway on-ramps and highway transitions? (like a major road turns into a freeway like in SF) I'm a bit worried about that part...when the time comes.

UPDATE:

Ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes on the future location of the United States' largest movie theater - the AMC 30!

(I'm getting a LOT done in such a short amount of time)

Nice progress, and perfection is a good thing

The amount of progress done in such a short amount of time is scary...

Image

I'm afraid it's not going to work. LOL

LOL, I just spent the last half hour splitting everything up and it turns out I didn't split the objects enough! Now I have to go back and split everything up AGAIN. Oh well, you learn from your dumb mistakes

Well, here I go back to splitting up 27 intersections, crosswalks, and sidewalks..

UPDATE:

SCORE!!!!!!!!!!

Image

Not quite ready for gameplay yet. Need to setup intersections and road rules first

UPDATE 2:

Aww, the in-game test failed!!!

Image

Every time I try to crossover to another road, my car disappears and nothing happens. I tried setting different settings so I can spawn elsewhere, but apparently the only road I can drive on is t he one that's messed up...LOL

Also, I just realized I typed in the wrong number for the intersections & crosswalks...I typed in 3 instead of 4...noooooo!!!

Any ideas? I'm a n00b at this stuff :(

UPDATE 3:

I know what friggin happened now.The friggin sidewalk was flattened in certain places, which is mostly my fault due to the fact I misused the "ALIGN" tool, meaning I most likely aligned everything on the Z axis or whatever axis defined the height of the sidewalks. Who knows how many sidewalk errors there are...

I'm done for tonight. It was fun doing all that work today. I'll get to work on fixing everything in the morning.

Can you show a wireframe of an intersection that doesn't work? I had a similiar problem once.

I think the intersections crosswalks are wrong modelled, the ones accepted by MM2CT can't be constructed like in-game ones
