Screen recorders that works with MM2

Postby funkytoad » Mon Oct 08, 2007 2:48 am

I have tried several diffrent screen recorders, but none seem to work with MM2. I see people that post MM2 Videos on YouTube. It looks like they are using Frapps. I have tried it. It doesn't work. What do you use?

I don't know why everyone likes fraps so much. There are better programs out there. Don't use hypercam2. I use camtasia4 although my comp can't record the whole screen of mm2 without alot of slowdown.

I think when it comes to recording gameplay, you just plain need a good comp. Although with camtasia I have never tried recording mm2 with real bad quality.

Okay, I tried camtasia4.
It is the first one to work.
However, while recording, it starts making the screen jerk around.
I will continue to play around with it.

Yeah, the screen will do that if you try recording to good of quality like I did. You mess around with the frame compressors and make it less quality. That should do the trick.

Also I use Fraps, and for me is the best video/picture capturing program for games; and the FPS displayed value is very useful. To make it work good while recording better have a powerful PC, or just set a little video size for capture. Fraps is better than Camtasia, this last need much memory.

Recording live video on your PC is going to require a relatively powerful PC no matter what program you use... no application will record well if you have some piece of crap 64 MHZ from 1998 :)

No problem, but in this topic we are talk about of a program that record all that which happens in screen and save it as a video file with sounds.

Still, I like Camtasia better. It probably takes so much memory because it makes records very good quality.

Does anyone know if there's a way to make MM2 run windowed? This would make it a lot easier for me to record MM2 if it wasn't in fullscreen.

From what I know about MM2, I believe not. MM2 can't be run windowed.
The only thing that you can do is, run the game and your recorder, minimize the game by pressing Windows symbol button + D button, or press only the Windows symbol button, start the recording and then return in the game.
Any way Fraps is made for games, it can start and stop video record by pressing a button (default is F10) while game is running.

i used hypercam to record mm2 for a while, but when i imported the file to windows movie maker, it only filled the top corner of the screen, plus the gameplay is incredibly slow...it could just be that my computers crappy, but im not a hypercam fan

It takes a lot of computer memory to keep the gameplay at a decent speed. Maybe 2 GB of memory(that much would fill up my computer completely.)
