It's not back in the old days, where one download appeared every day. MM2 popularity is dying, unfortunately. :(

But fortunately there are many exceptions, and the releases quality is very high now.

But now there's fewer people around now to enjoy the greatness of these mods. I know MM2 will die someday...just hope it's not for a while. :(

I wonder if there are any other games that got this popular. I mean at one time there were over 350 fan websites! Things appearing everyday. Tons of activity on mm2c.

Probably the GTA games were just about as popular. 350's been reduced to only a large handful of sites, probably only 50-100 sites.

Golly, time to update my links. Mine are probably super out-dated by now.

Al least ten years of MM2 add-ons are very good, a great goal. The GTA series has more add-ons and fans, because is a series for PC and in making; the next, GTA IV, will be out in next year.

PS: you go too off topic. ;)

Okay, I'll stay on topic for you, Franch88. And probably because GTA was more popular from the start.

Don't worry, aren't a problem the off topics. :)
The Grand Theft Auto series was ever more popular that the Midtown Madness series because it created a new gameplay with a lot of liberty to the player. But too liberty isn't good, the recent GTA series games have too violence; it has had a lot of polemics. :?

I guess the younger generations prefer violence more over racing... I wonder what will happen with murder rates in a few years. :(

The GTA series has been made especially for this, it isn't a racing game, absolutely not. It has created a new game genre.
The violent games sure have involved youth violence, as many psychologists and sociologists have said. :| The violent games bring to do the same that is done in the game in the real life. I don't play violent games, I'm a racing games player, and there are very few violent racing games, like the discussed Carmageddon series.

PS: topic splitted.

Yes. I've heard about that connection a lot. It makes me sad to think of the increasing number of gangs and violent people.

Don't listen to those knuckleheads. If a game makes you go murder people or do other pretty bad things there was something wrong with you do begin with. I mean really, there are tons of people who play violent games and watch even worse movies, but never commit a crime in there life.

The people who these things were messed up to start with, the games did not make them do it.

This is true HummersRock. There are many violent movies, and isn't true that a game can bring even everyone, as they says, to imitate the bad things.
