Need to make an object lighter.

Postby RK4000 » Thu Jun 16, 2011 9:22 pm

The reason i'd like one is simple. The border things in circuit races are particularly annoying. In singleplayer they're light, and that's ok. But in Multiplayer, they feel like they're made out of lead, and its very easy to get stuck in them. What i'd like to do is change their mass or at least make them as light like they are in Singleplayer. Also if there's a mod that changes this already i'd like a link, i could find any though.

There's nothing similar to what you're asking, both as program and mod, but from what I've understood the change that you want to get can be made by a mod. You're talking about the barriers with red and white stripes placed along the circuit races paths, right? Those are called props objects, and are added only in the race mode, and now I don't know if there's a second file of them that's only for the multiplayer races, maybe not. Need to check the .dgbangerdata file for that barrier object, in it there's the mass value.

All the game files are placed in the 4 game default .ar files, and the .dgbangerdata ones there are in the mm2core.ar file, is needed a program called DeAR 2 to extract them, then you must make a mod .ar file to get the change in-game. I can do this mod for you, it's fast, then you have to test it both in single player and multiplayer modes.

It's done, get the file here. The old mass value was of about 125, now it's of only 10. Those concrete barricades will be very easy to move now.
Also, there's this old mod that makes many prop objects of the game lighter, probably including these barricades, try it too without mine.

Strange, does it happen with my little one or with that other one? If is with mine, remove it and try the other one, called Banger Fix.
Also, make sure to don't have put too much add-on cars last time you've played the game, probably the crashing problem at first loading is just given by this.

Well, it crashes with your mod, but with that other mod it actually makes all objects HEAVIER 0.o, also, i don't have any other add-on cars installed. I did a while ago but i removed them.

Now I've better checked and the Banger Fix makes the objects heavier, not lighter, for more realistic collisions, my bad. I know that there's the mod that does the contrary, called Pole Mod, get it here.
I've now tested my little mod in-game and it works perfectly, without give crashes. However, by default those barricades are already pretty light, they can be easily pushed and moved.

In singleplayer yes, but in multiplayer they act as if they're made of lead.

Also, i tried making a small mod with DeAR, extracting stuff, and then putting that into an .ar file like some other mod i downloaded to learn off did, and that crashed my game too. A lot of other mods that work for other people crash me aswell, but some do work. I have an unpatched game tho, (no xp patch installed) maybe that affects this? And yes i can play on XP without the XP patch strangely enough, must be this laptop's old old graphics card

If is so I have no idea, maybe it's not possible, or it's a kind of anti-cheating system, like is for the same cars but with different tuning settings. The way to make the prop objects lighter or heavier is only that one, if it doesn't work in multiplayer modes is another thing. :?

The Windows XP patch using is always suggested, also if the OS is successive to it, install it and then use the Speed Boot (edited game .exe file, version 1.1) available here. The crashing of some things in your game should depend by the lacking of this mod however, it does other specific things. Try to remove the folder called player from your game folder, then launch the game, create a new profile and see if now the game is more tolerant with mods, however this sounds weird...

But this mod works or not in multiplayer? You've said the contrary a while ago. :? Ok, it works only if all the players of a multiplayer gameplay have it installed...
Check the above post about the mods that cause game crashing issue.
