Hey all! I heard ZM1 pkg filter is very buggy and I'm here to know if I can help. Maxoff update to this filter is great and solves its bugs but maybe someone wants ZM2 filter e.g.? I want to know what new software is needed and whether it's needed.

I just got zm1 PKG filter source code and started to research the format. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Not happening. Zm2 is done and Oleg says it's too old for ZM3.

Only the PKG filter of ZModeler 1.07b version, and maybe also in some others, is buggy especially with the importing. The one of 1.05 version works better, for example. The Maxoff's edited and improved PKG filter for ZModeler 1.07b is really the definitive one.
I don't see advantages in having the PKG filter also in ZModeler 2, a program that isn't neither free, unlike ZModeler 1 versions. At least, ZModeler 2 can be used for the modeling and the texturing of a car to be made for MM2, but then is better export as old .z3d file type, and do the final things and .pkg file exporting with ZModeler 1.

ZM2 has SDK so it may happen if someone wants. So may it be for ZM3 if it will have SDK.

Franch88, are you using ZM1 or ZM2 for modelling?
So modellers are all satisfied with ZM1 and there is nothing to improve?
Btw ZM2 can export for free, only import requires purchase.

In my case, I use both. ZM1 and ZM2.
For importing PKG file, I use ZM 1.05c.
For converting, I use ZM 2.0.8.
For exporting, I use ZM 1.0.7b

So would you be glad to do this all in ZM2 exclusively?

i use zm2 for modeling, but i dont really care about switching between zm2 and zm1 for exporting. can you make it possible to make maps in zm2? because i can work much better with zm2 than zm1.

I do everything in ZM 1.05c, as I really don't need ZM2

I don't do modeling, in past I did some little, always using ZModeler 1. ZModeler 1 results to be the most used, then there's a very good cars modeling tutorial for newbies where this program is used in it.
Yes, a free and unregistered copy of ZModeler 2 allows only the exporting, but the importing feature is important as well. Really, IMO isn't felt the effort to put time into developing a PKG filter for ZModeler 2, that in very few would use... Maxoff's one for ZModeler 1.07b is the definitive one.

Yeah, you can make maps using ZM2. It supports *.3Ds exporting.

It doesn't bother me anyways, but if it is in one ZM only that would be nice and make my work faster.
If you're planning to do something on the scripts on ZM, I hope there's no bugs. Or just leave this work to Oleg then?

Oleg said he wouldn't do anything MM2 related so...
It's more of my programming interest.

So if I make some progress I'll post it. Thanks for your replies.

PS. Did Maxoff post his filter's source code? Or maybe someone knows how to contact him?

Indeed, in ZModeler forum Oleg said that's not needed build a MM2 PKG filter for ZModeler 2 because the game is now old and the ones in the various ZModeler 1 versions are enough.

Ok, good luck and work with this attempt.

No, Maxoff didn't posted his PKG filter source code, but as far as I know he used a programming software to edit the filter .zmf file. Unfortunately it's now impossible contact him, his last showing in this community there was about two years ago. You can find e-mail addresses in his programs released with the HQTM-Team names, available in this website too.

I'm the weird one here and I would like to say that I prefer using 3DS Max for all of my work. I hate using ZM1 because it is one of the buggiest programs I've ever used, as for ZM2 I haven't used it much, so I couldn't really tell you if it's something I'd want. I personally say, if you think you can outdo Maxoff's ZM1 .PKG filter for 1.07, I'll gladly switch over to your ZM2 PKG filter.

So what if people don't use it? At least you contributed something to the MM2 community that will help a very small group of people. And I get the impression you enjoy coding, so that's a bonus! I'd say go for it!
