Edit files. "Dds" to "Tga"

Someone tell me how the formats become "dds" to "tga".

Download the DDS Converter 2.1 program from here and use it to convert .dds image files in various images formats including TGA one.

I have problems when converting files, the program closes, it also tried to turn on the option "image file list" add the base name but nothing.

This problem happens also to me, for some reason the program closes (probable crash without error message or report) when you open certain .dds files with it. Maybe it's related with differences in the properties of the format.
You have to use another similar program, download and try this, it's made to convert DDS file format to the only BMP one, but after you can use DDS Converter 2.1 to convert the BMP format to the TGA one. The only problem is the lost of the alpha channel for the transparencies, that can be necessary for some of the textures.

Ok, the files are converted to BMP and now I'm making TGA. :wink:

P.s. by converting to BMP you are losing Transparency

If you want to convert images use Free Image Converter, it doesn't even error opening MM1 DDS files

It's what I've said too, that because of the converting to the BMP file format is lost the alpha channel for the transparencies, but of course not all the textures use it.

The program closes because there is an option in it says "close program after converting" you should unmark this option to avoid closing the program.

Use the program made by Aaro for the DDS to TGA converting, with it there aren't working problems and you don't lost possible alpha channels.
Now what you're asking for is a different thing. You have to see which texture fits each material, also by looking at the texture and at the car part; unite the car body polygons in one object, so wheels excluded, and then separate it by materials, this is helpful in this work. Looks that there are unnecessary objects, the hidden ones, you have to delete them before. All the thing requires time.

That's real, but it's not this case. As I've said the program can really crash when opening certain .dds files, is enough select one of the files.

Great job Aaron.

Since I have no idea what to do with the textures, I'd rather stay as converter.
