It feels like MM2x will die soon

More and more members well known are disappearing... And most of the newer ones are probably spambots or users who don't do anything at all

There's no need to get preoccupied looking at that side... The website and overall community activity is low than the past, but this won't minimally mean the die of MM2X (for die is intended the shutting down). Well, what's to say? The game is getting really old and the older members of the community change interests, life is life... Fortunately some young gamer discoveries MM2 and potentially can get interested in its modding.
Concerning the new registered members, better don't look too much at this... There have always been registered members who haven't practically done anything in the website, abandoning the account; in the last year they decreased, anyway. About the spambots, several registered in the latest months, but I've always deleted the accounts, most of the times they're easily recognizable.

The number will decrease exponentially with time, but never reach zero.

Franch is right. Just because the game is getting pretty old doesn't mean that the website dedicated to MM2 will die. I know that we don't usually talk a lot about it as much as we did, but as long as these releases keep coming in and that there's activity in the forums, the website will live on!

But those can't run hardware graphics, meaning we'll all have to start modding for software eventually, right?

Not necessarily. I myself I'm making an experiment of running Mac OS X in my PC, and with a virtual machine, I get MM2 at 60fps with hardware rendering, so yeah

Cool. That is not with Oracle Virtual box is it? Never had luck with graphic rendering and that program.

No. Mac is running natively in PC, and I use Parallels, that does pretty much the same thing, but it's better and faster
