This is wierd. I didn't even edited anything inside the .ar file. Now game crashes saying "heap overrun". What makes this happen. I'm really confused right now.

Which NY you are using, the original or the improved one? I think you need change graphics, change that Hardware T&L thing to other one

I'am using the improved version "1.2". And yeah my graphics is set to Hardware (3D video card with T&L). I set it to Hardware (3D video card) only, yet it still crashes.

I'm already miffed with the city and its obviously a midpoly 'addon .ar something' that's plaguing the functioning. I try with a lowpoly random car and it still manages to do the heap over-dance. Seems only compatible lowpolies work in it. Has someone ever tried removing unnecessary polys off of NYC ?

The latest version of improved NY has those background buildings which make game crash. Use the older version or try to remove those buildings but that requires some city-editing knowledge

Yea! Old one works. The newer 1.2 one doesn't even start in mine, though being totally modless.

As usual, when playing any version of this city is better low the traffic and pedestrians densities and don't drive a very high polygons car add-on. Yeah, the added landscape buildings of the Improved 1.2 version can give more troubles, because of the usual fact that the game can't load too much overall polygons.

"0" traffic-peds-cops and the 'So improved' 1.2 is proof that this lucky guy was here.

The 1.2 never works. Tried it all. And only certain lowpoly cars work in the old one. Surprisingly, in the old one, "0" traffic-peds-cops gives room for one mid/hi poly car. That's how it works and it's passable.

@Doof4294967296: Does it work in yours ? I'm using a crappier grafcard than yours - AMD Radeon HD 7640G + 7670M Dual Graphics with 64bit Win 8 :/

So I load the map with a low-poly car and it worked. It's probably MM2 not having enough allocated memory to render all these objects.

The 1.2 works perfectly to me somehow. I am the MM2 Compatibility guy.

Just delete some mods and it works, or even delete player.cfg or gfxconf.dat. (I only delete mods and it works, but maybe the other things can help!)
Also try to look at your graphic configuration, try to change everything!

The bad thing is that i can't have a lot of mods with New York there.

So, it was a waste of a joke back there :molesto2:. @Doof4294967296: yes, that is obviously the reason it isn't as flexible as Chicago in comparison. Guess sticking to sajmon14's city editing suggestion is the only way past this.. for me. @FXANBSS: Probably the best we could do for NYC will be a re-texture mod, in the not very distant future.

Well I have removed the buildings and most of highpoly cars aren't working there when I have cops on and I'm using my huge trafficmod

Don't forget that's also a matter of screen resolution, it counts too: higher it is, and higher are the chances to get a game crash during the city loading. However, with a screen resolution of 1280x1024 pixels, most of the times a less than half traffic density (better without a traffic mod), no AI cop presence, and the use of low polygons car (maximum 20000 polygons as total of all its parts, I guess) don't cause game crashes. This playing New York City Improved 1.2.

I noticed that too. That is why I play at 720x540 rather than 1920x1080. It adds the chance of crashing the game.

Uhh BIGzee. For your information, I'm not kidding I'm serious! Does it look like I'm joking? No, really! :|

Yeah as I say, the reason is the poly/vertex count. MM2 doesn't have enough memory to load the whole city.
