Hi all,
so happy to find this place! :D I was surfing around youtube the other day and accidently saw a clip about MM2 which really brings back some good old memories from 15 years ago. I remember flying around SF & London using a plane and cruising around w/ a Diablo SV(That's right, Murcielago has not released back then lol)
I'm actually very surprised to find out there're so many recent new cars added into this game and thanks to all fan developers. :aplausos:

Anyway, so I wish to have another go and bumped into a few problems...

1. I cant get any add-on vehicle downloaded from this site to work. I put the .ar file into the same directory as the Midtown2.exe, the car name will show up in the car selection screen but as soon as I get to that option, the game exit immediately. Stock cars work out fine tho, so I've only played w/ the stock ones for now... but kinda get boring lol. I've tried the savegame100 player file and ain't working as well :(
Is there any other thing I needa do before using those recent new cars?

2. The game actually launches very unexpectedly. It will start the game eventually but like 5 minutes+ after I clicked the Midtown2.exe.

For the environments,
I'm using an i5 PC running windows XP sp3,
and since I can't find my old mm2 cd-rom, I'm now playing a "myth" copy.

Thanks for reading and any help or replies are appreciated :D
Happy gaming!

For the slow launching maybe try Speedboot, its somewhere on this site

Maybe the "myth copy" is causing the problem not to make add-on cars to work. Try to download Diatosta's improved .exe file (should still be on home page) and replace the one on your folder with it, and then give it a try.

Hi thanks to sajmon14 & KingAndy for the replies!
I've tried the Diatosta.exe and the long-wait launching issue is solved! Yay
But every time I select an add-on car the game still exit immediately...

Perhaps I should try finding another copy?

Try one last thing: delete the players folder. If it still does not work, the issue has to be on some other file that probably have been cracked. On this case you really should try another copy.

EDIT: came to my mind to ask you how many add-ons you installed. If more than one, remove them and add just one. Also what cars are you trying?

Hi King Andy,
I've tried removing the players folder and doesn't help :'(

The cars I've been trying including the Mazda RX-7 react, Subbie BRZ, and an Audi from the homepage. Guess its time to look for another copy.

Yep, it's your last bet. If you want to I can pack my game files for you and send you through PM, I just don't send you the .exe for safety reasons and because after all its just Diatosta's one.

Welcome!

If the addons are still not working, to have fun, maybe might use other controllers, Gamepad, Steering Wheel and Mouse, it can be interesting, but not for long.

Or play some races, crash course, etc. You have a lot of things to do in MM2 without mods.
Complete all the races and then unlock all the cars!

Unfortunately, it still won't work.
When I selected the add-on car, it would spin for like 2 seconds then force closed.
I've also tried on win7 using the same machine and the results are the same. Since I've tried different copies of software(thanks to King Andy!) and different OS, I'm considering it's a hardware issue... maybe I'll try it on my Macbook+virtual box.

btw King Andy, can you named one or two add on cars that works on your pc? Although chances should be very small, but I'm wondering if the cars I've downloaded simply all aren't compatible w/ my desktop..

haha okay I'll do that if at last there's no luck.
Simply driving around the mm2 SF & london brings back so many good memories. Back in the days I used to visit my friend's house and we played this game together. It was the time when kids actually shared a computer(for a period of time we only have one copy of the game lol) but still having loads of fun :)

Well, since you're using the exact same copy I use, the problem should be outside the game. All mods over the last years (at least) are tested before being released on the website, so I can ensure you they should work. Besides starting the game on administrator mode I don't see much you can try.

Also, does it display any error message?
