The Midtown Madness Beta Version Topic
I don't know how to really start this topic.
A few years ago, dummiesboy made a topic regarding a couple of MM2 betas that Rippance, from the long gone Midtown Madness 2 Central website uploaded.
Here is the link for the topic, and there are links and instructions provided.

Astonished at this discovery, I dived in to find some pretty amazing stuff. This is from the June 2000 beta. Enjoy.
Not sure if these places or their textures are in the final version.
These orange things by the coast are red in the final version.
Wing Cho. I think you guys may have seen this one already. If not, you can get it in Midtown Madness 2 Revisited v5.
Okay, pretty brief. "Aston Martin". It's a beta, so I can excuse it there. But the color is...Periwinkle? Deary me.
The Aston Martin in question is a DB7 Vantage...but what's this?
Apparently, it was only supposed to be a base model DB7 at one point. No description finished.
The color names are a bit off. "Scorcher!"
Place Holder indeed. No information?
Beta loading screen. Would it be possible to make this a mod?
Approaching the London IMAX theatre is pretty entertaining.
Wait a second...FOGLIGHTS? ON THE NEW MINI COOPER?
Yep.
Surprised nobody has said anything about this beta, let alone make it a sticky topic!
Probably we should be doing it like these guys...

Look through this topic, look at the more recent posts...These guys make it look so cool. We probably already discovered this stuff...but still, should we make it, I don't know, visible to new members?
...maybe should do this kind of stuff. As a community.

Nice work with the topic, good that also you have spotted those differences. Really, some discussions about the beta versions were made.

Seeing this stuff makes me remember a little mod I was working on that brought back the stuff that was removed from the final game (along with placeholder). If I can find it I'll finish it up and great job finding the differences.
Retired from modifying Midtown Madness games. Nowadays I mod Crashday Redline Edition in my spare time.

Did you add the foglights to the New Mini Cooper? I'd love that as a separate modSeeing this stuff makes me remember a little mod I was working on that brought back the stuff that was removed from the final game (along with placeholder). Yep, using the beta pkg file, I'll just redo it using the retail version or the RV5 version if there were any differences.Did you add the foglights to the New Mini Cooper? I'd love that as a separate mod

Textures found in the .ar files of the June 2000 version and other versions of MM2. Lots to look at!
(Forgot to fix this one below)
Final version.
From the March 2000 beta. Interesting.
Hey, nice mugshots. Originally were supposed to ride the tram.
Midtown Madness 2!
Uhh...textured traffic vehicles?
From a Ford Transit van, it seems.

MCSR and MM2 were developed at the same time using the same engine. I think there were MM2 leftovers in MCSR's files.Wonder how that got in there. That is also more hq than the default mcsr textures.
