From what I experienced, some cars add-ons for MM1 inevitably crashes to me, also when using only one of them without any other .ar file (except the default game ones). I guess there's a graphic-related issue with them...
You could try this. After have launched the game, go to its graphic options and select the software rendering, then close the game, and finally run it again to see if you can select that car.
