Hi, I was wondering if there is a mod to download that reduces the amount that a cars wheels spin/skid or get rid of tire smoke. Thanks.

The wheels spinning of a car is a thing related with the tuning of a player car, add-on or not, so there can't be a mod that does this to any car used in the game. But, if your purpose is just to get rid of the smoke is needed a mod that simply hides its texture (the only way possible in MM2); there was a very old release of a such mod, hard to find now.

Thanks for that mod Sajmon, it's not the one that I mean; as teh Readme file says it edits the materials.csv file to remove smoke and also skidmarks. The editing of that file isn't really good, it's used by some other mod and tracks, so can result a conflict. The mod that I meant simply makes the texture for the smoke transparent, and the same is possible with the tire skidmark one; dunno if also the car damages smoke results invisible because of it, maybe yes...
Probably it's available in no place now, I'll PM you one quickly made by me since it's really simple.

Hi
I made a serious error with the previous smoke mod. Do not use it in online play.
It seems that materials.csv assigns values from materials.mtl to textures. The friction values ( ptxindex , ptxthreshold ) are changed when set from cobbstone to none (called _default in materials.mtl)
Definitions in materials.mtl
mtl _default {
elasticity: 0.900000
friction: 0.900000
effect: none
sound: 0
drag: 0.000000
width: 0.000000
height: 0.000000
depth: 0.0000
ptxindex: 4 -1
ptxthreshold: 0.25 0.5
mtl cobblestone {
elasticity: 0.900000
friction: 0.900000
effect: none
sound: 0
drag: 0.000000
width: 0.000000
height: 0.000000
depth: 0.0000
ptxindex: 4 7
ptxthreshold: 0.25 0.3
}
Because of the change in ground friction, some cars are 2/10 of a second faster.

My reply is a little rushed, so I apologize if my language sounds confusing. Need to get BTW on Chicago, the roads and intersections are near completion.

Thanks for this error fixing, that thing can work like a speed hack in online gameplays, and the game anti-cheating system doesn't block that, unlike it does with add-on cars when all the players haven't the same ones. From the materials properties, that works only with textures assigned to PSDL terrains, is also possible have kind of turbo boost grounds.
However, if the purpose is simply to don't have the smoke visible, just make its texture transparent through the alpha channel, so it'll work also on tracks made of PKG objects (like my Anarchy Road conversion) that uses the smoke effect through the BOUND.
And that thing doesn't seem, it's so: the materials.csv file uses the effects names in the materials.mtl file to assing its effects to the textures list in it.
