Long-term file & web hosting.

Postby Azbestos8 » Mon Mar 30, 2009 8:41 pm

What do you people use for web and/or filehosting?

I've gone from provider-to-provider without little joy, ideally, I'd like something that is...

- free
- no adverts
- no pop-ups
- won't close my account after a month of inactivity
- supports PHP
- supports MySQL (optional)
- unlimited bandwidth (optional)
- FTP access/support
- speed (pretty important)
- little or no down-time
- English
- allows lots of file formats

I used to use Filefront.com and SnapDrive.net for file-hosting, but they've both disappointed me. I have the option of Microsoft's SkyDrive, but I really don't trust M$. Download speed is very important, I have a 20mbit line, but sites like Rapidshare & FileFront, make me feel like I'm on 56k.

For web-hosting, I used to use a personal (paid) domain, which expired, about 2 years ago. And then 110mb.com which is exceptional, but they ask new users to pay for FTP. Portland.co.uk was also good, but they removed my site, I don't know why. I didn't break the T&C. I've used more than I care to remember, I recently used uuuq.com, but they've gone down/removed my site. I also have webspace provided by my ISP, which I pay for, but they don't offer PHP.

I can host it free. PM Me if you need more info.

Its fast, no pop-ups, MySQL is available, FTP access is also available. And on a medium connection you get around 86KB/s Download speeds.

Also I have no ToS and it wont get removed :P

1 Rule is no torrents. They will kill my site speed.

I actually took him up on his excellent offer. But I seem to be having some problems, I don't think he has finished setting it up.

Mind if I add you on MSN?

Is pretty hard find a good free hosting space with at the PHP support and all those other features. The own ISP gives a little limited space for a simple website.
I used FileFront for files too, and for only MM2 related files, I use the website servers, also because they're more fast for speeds and accessibility.

Sorry Azbestos it still is giving me an error when I add your domain to the addon list.

Try deleting that domain and re-register it if you can.

Okay, I've deleted the old one, and registered "midmad2.co.cc", with the same password as before, and I didn't add the name-servers because I lost the file with the details.
